BioBeo at the Week of Economics Education

From November 20 to 24, the Week of Economics Education took place – the national week for future-proof economics education in the Netherlands. The substantive program of the Week of Economics Education was developed for and by education professionals and offered inspiration on how to create space within the economics subject for different economic thinking. BioBeo-members also attended the Week.

On the closing day, a new inspiring documentary premiered, initiated by Kees Klomp (affiliated with the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and author in the field of the ‘meaning economy’). 14 Dutch universities of applied sciences are visited that try to find an answer to the question: how do we ensure that these students are prepared for a world that asks more and more pressing questions? Kees acts as a guide and takes you to Gert Biesta (pedagogue and Professor of Public Education in Ireland), who sheds light on everything from a pedagogical perspective. This results in a engaging conversation about the critical importance of facing reality and learning adult choices, as opposed to the infantile choices we are constantly tempted to make in our society.

Kees Klomp is also the key note speaker, on the BioBeo festival in Brussels, on March 15, 2024.

As of today, the documentary has subtitles in English: (Youtube Link)
